Head Coach & Director of Coaching Announcement

The President of Oakdale Netball Club, Mr Paul Jeffries, is pleased to announce the appointment of Vanessa Dempsey as Head Coach of the Oakdale Netball Club for season 2018.  Mr Brian Lines will transition to the role of Director of Coaching for the club.  The appointments are effective immediately.

Oakdale Development 2017

It is our pleasure to advise that the Club’s Development Program will be overseen by our Premier League Coach, Brian Lines and his coaching staff. Brian has taken an extremely high hands on approach towards development since being appointed Premier League Coach last year, culminating in Oakdale fielding a record number of junior club players in its Premier League Squad in 2017.  Coupled with Oakdale being represented in a number of junior state teams and Brian being appointed as Head Coach of the Southern Force, this provides further evidence that Oakdale is having success in implementing the Netball SA pathway program for not only players but also coaches. The pathway from Sub-Primary to Premier League is well and truly alive at Oakdale.

Brian will work closely with senior coaches in each grade including Rebecca Johnston and Sally Ann Prince (AMND Seniors) Vanessa Dempsey (Intermediate – also Premier League Assistant Coach), Christina Hatzigiannis (Junior), Bronwyn Thain (Sub Junior) and Benita Fagan (Primary/Sub Primary).

These coaches have been appointed due to a combination of their experience and willingness to implement a unified approach to development at the Club.

The mentoring of these senior coaches by Brian and his coaching staff will see a more uniform approach to player development at Oakdale Netball Club.

More details will be announced at Season Launch on the 30th March 2017.

Paul Jeffries

President

Press Release

Oakdale Netball Club (“Oakdale”) and Cheerio Netball Club (“Cheerio”) would like to announce the dissolution of the joint venture Phoenix Netball. In 2010 Oakdale and Cheerio broke new ground by engaging in a joint venture that would see the two clubs united at the top level, fielding Premier Division and Reserves Division teams under the banner of Phoenix Netball in the Netball SA State Premier Netball Competition. Netball SA supported the joint venture by granting a licence to Phoenix to play in the Premier Division and Reserves Division competitions, where the teams have enjoyed significant on-court success with consistent finals appearances. Oakdale and Cheerio have now amicably agreed to part ways and Netball SA has endorsed this. Each club will continue to operate and pursue their individual club goals. Oakdale will assume sole responsibility for fielding the Phoenix SPNC teams in the 2016 competition and the club will continue operating as per status quo.  Both clubs will continue to field teams in the AMND and City Night competitions. Oakdale and Cheerio would like to thank their players, volunteers and supporters, as well as Netball SA, for their support throughout the operation of the joint venture. The clubs are proud of their achievements together and are confident that they will continue to have a strong bond into the future.

Phoenix Netball Premier League Head Coach for 2016

Oakdale Phoenix Netball Club welcomes the appointment of the successful 2015 U21’s State Coach Mr Brian Lines as Head Coach, Phoenix Netball for 2016/17. Brian’s depth of experience extends with his involvement at State and Premier League competitions since 2001. More recently his breadth of coaching experience has been as Premier League Assistant Coach at Garville (2011-15). In 2015 Brian was successful at the National Championships as the Head Coach of SA 21 & Under team. In 2014 he was Assistant Coach of both the ANL Southern Force and SA 21 & Under (National Championships). We’re excited with what Brian is planning and will bring to our club and to Phoenix teams in particular. We know that Brian will have a tremendous impact on the development programs at Oakdale and certainly look forward to the knowledge and expertise he will bring to Premier League teams to ensure our achievement at the highest level.
